Gamezy is a crowdsourced game-ranking app where players vote on head-to-head matchups
between real video games. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it,
and what choices you have.
1. Who we are
Gamezy is published by LoqzCorp (“we”, “us”). The app is distributed as
com.loqzcorp.gamezy on iOS and Android. Questions about this policy can
be sent to loqzcorp@gmail.com.
2. Data we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email/password, our authentication provider
(Supabase Auth) stores:
- A unique user ID
- Your email address
- A display name and avatar initials (initially derived from your email or
OAuth profile; you can change the display name once)
- The sign-in provider you used and timestamps for account creation and sign-in
Activity inside the app
Once signed in, the following activity is associated with your user ID so leaderboards,
profile stats, comments, and follows can work:
- Each vote you cast (the two games shown, the winner, the category, and a timestamp)
- Comments and replies you post on games
- Likes you give to comments
- Users you follow and users who follow you
- Users you block (so we can filter their comments out of your feeds and prevent
them from viewing your profile)
- Reports you submit on other users’ comments (the reason category and any optional
notes you provide)
- Aggregate stats derived from the above (total votes, votes per category, rank,
agreement with consensus)
In-app notifications
When someone replies to your comment, likes your comment, follows you, or comments on
a game you’ve commented on, we create a notification record tied to your account so
the in-app notifications panel and badge work. Notifications are deleted when you
delete your account.
Push notification tokens
If you allow notifications, your device registers a push token with Apple (on iOS)
or Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging (on Android), and we store that token associated
with your account so we can send pushes for the events above. Tokens are deleted when
you delete your account or sign out of that device. We do not use push tokens for
marketing.
Technical data
Server logs at our hosting providers may record short-lived diagnostic information
such as IP address, request timestamps, and error traces. We do not use third-party
analytics SDKs or advertising trackers inside the app.
3. How we use this data
- To authenticate you and keep your session active across devices
- To compute Elo ratings, leaderboards, vote history, and category boards
- To attribute comments, replies, likes, and follows to a profile
- To enforce the daily vote limit of 100 votes per UTC day per account, and the
daily report limit of 10 reports per UTC day per account
- To send in-app notifications and (if you allow them) push notifications for
replies, likes, follows, and new comments on games you’ve discussed
- To moderate community content — a comment that receives reports from at least
three different users is automatically hidden behind a “hidden by reports” notice,
which any reader can reveal manually
- To enforce blocks: when you block another user, their comments are filtered
from your feeds and they can’t view your profile
- To respond to support requests and detect abuse
4. Third-party services we use
-
Supabase (auth, database, edge functions, file storage) — hosts
your account, your votes, your comments, your blocks, and your reports. Subject
to Supabase’s own privacy terms.
-
RAWG — Gamezy’s catalog of games is sourced from the public RAWG
video-game database. RAWG is queried only server-side; your identity is never
forwarded to RAWG.
-
Apple and Google — when you choose to sign in
with Apple or Google, those providers handle the sign-in flow and return a minimal
profile to us (user ID, email, name).
-
Expo — we use Expo’s push notification service to deliver pushes
to your device. Expo wraps the underlying platform push token (APNs or FCM) into
an Expo push token; the title, body, and metadata of each notification we send
pass through Expo’s servers in transit. Expo does not retain your message content
long-term and does not use it for advertising. Subject to Expo’s privacy terms.
-
Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — used for push delivery
on iOS. Apple receives the notification payload at delivery time and routes it to
your device.
-
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — used for push delivery on
Android. Google receives the notification payload at delivery time and routes it
to your device. Firebase Cloud Messaging is the only Google service Gamezy uses;
we do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or any other Firebase product.
5. What is public vs. private
Public on Gamezy: your display name, avatar initials/color, total vote count, rank,
Top genre, agreement score, follower and following lists, any comments or replies
you post, and any likes you give to comments. These appear in the in-app Voters
list, on game discussions, and on public profile views.
Private to your account: your email address, the authentication identifiers
returned by your sign-in provider, your push notification tokens, the list of
users you have blocked, and any reports you have submitted on other users’
comments. We do not show these to other users — reports in particular are visible
only to the Gamezy team for moderation review.
6. Data retention & account deletion
You can delete your account from the in-app Profile tab. When you delete your
account:
- Your authentication record and email are removed from Supabase Auth.
- Your profile row is deleted.
- A small tombstone (display name shown as “Account Deleted”, avatar initials,
color, and the total vote count) is retained so leaderboards and follower/following
lists stay coherent.
- Your past comments are kept but the author label is replaced with
“Account Deleted”.
- Your votes, comment likes, and follow graph entries are retained with their
user reference nulled out, so aggregate Elo ratings remain accurate.
- Your push notification tokens are deleted, so no further pushes are sent to
your devices.
- The in-app notifications addressed to you are deleted.
- The list of users you have blocked is deleted.
- Reports you have submitted on other users’ comments are deleted. The hidden
status of any auto-hidden comments is unaffected — once a comment crosses the
three-report threshold, it stays hidden even if individual report rows are later
removed.
If you want a manual deletion, email
loqzcorp@gmail.com from the address tied to
your account and we will process it.
7. Children
Gamezy is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your
jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you
believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we will remove the account.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the
personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. Email
loqzcorp@gmail.com and we will respond
within a reasonable time.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for
significant changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use of Gamezy after a
change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
